WiDNR grant - new 5-stand shooting pavilion

NEW 5-STAND PAVILION

Waunakee received a WiDNR Shooting Range Grant for a new 5-stand shooting pavilion that will be built by our member volunteers starting in the Spring of 2023.  This is a 75/25 split in costs with the WiDNR responsible for 75% of the cash costs.  Some highlights:
  • 56-ft x 16-ft enclosed building - Post frame - steel sided inside and out
  • 6-ft overhang along the front  south side
  • Separate warming/waiting area
  • 10-ft ceilings
  • Overhead radiant heating
  • LED field lighting for night shooting
  • New handicap parking
Along with the building we are extending some additional 2-rail fencing and we will be lighting the current trailer's 5-stand field with new LED Lighting. The plan is to be able to offer 5-stand throughout the year or if we have inclement weather and have the field setup for practice and learn to shoot throughout the season using our card system.

volunteers and material donations needed

The Club needs your help to make this happen.  If you are able to volunteer time and effort to make this a success, it will be appreciated by all.  We will also need donated materials this spring to complete the project.  Most needed will be electrical items.  A list will be made available at the club for volunteer help and material donations.

Work Has Started 5/1523

Framing is underway! Hunter Bohne, Todd Stormer and the crew of volunteers have been working hard and making good progress on the building. Les Castleberry was busy running conduit and helping set our new light poles. Huge thanks to Bob Ketelboeter and company on the concrete work.  Scott Laufenberg, Zach Thennes and Mike Simon on landscape, restoration and grading, and Spahn excavation for helping remove the trees and dig our foundation. Check  back for updated progress pictures.
