American field sporting (afs)
Waunakee is pleased to host American Field Sporting (AFS) competitions monthly from spring through fall. The AFS field formats fit well with our club's footprint and terrain. We are able to use our towers and platforms to give a unique experience to our shooters. All of our AFS events have certified referees and are thrown on a variety of field types on some unique areas of the grounds that we don't see everyday on the sporting course. Targets are guaranteed to be challenging and there is always the "X"-Bird to try and get a 2-points on! We will be hosting the 2024 Wisconsin State AFS Championship in September - go to ScoreChaser for registration.
American Field Sporting is, a new game in the sporting clays portfolio, designed (with your participation) to be safe, entertaining, challenging, fun, flexible, and unburdened by too many rules. The hope is that AFS, not only gives people who currently shoot clays target sports another reason to keep shooting, but attracts new participants to sporting clays and provides an opportunity for growth. Don't think of AFS as a replacement for existing games or sports. It's an addition, an experiment, and hopefully, becomes a game that people shoot and enjoy at our great club!
Shooters must preregister on ScoreChaser to squad. While we are open to all shooters the day of the AFS/NSCA Tournaments, all shooters wishing to shoot that day must shoot in the event as registered shooters. Open shooting is closed for the day as we use the grounds to host the event.
